Dr. Botts joined the faculty at Appalachian in 1997 and is currently an Associate Professor in the Department of Communication Sciences and Disorders. She brings a wealth of clinical experience to her teaching and research, having served as a speech-language pathologist for more than 35 years.
Dr. Botts’ teaches academic courses in assessment, language development, articulation and phonology disorders, and school-age language and literacy disorders. Her clinical teaching experience includes training graduate level student clinicians in the assessment and treatment of speech sound disorders and language and literacy difficulties in children, adolescents, and adults. In addition to teaching didactic courses, Dr. Botts regularly supervises graduate students conducting preschool screenings.
Dr. Botts conducts research and publishes in the areas of language and literacy assessment and intervention in inclusive settings. She has presented her work at the local, state, and national levels.
