Early First Semester of Graduate School

Plan Program of Study, Introduction to ASHA KASA Requirements

Meet with your advisor to ensure adherence to ASHA certification requirements

 

Plan Clinical Observations

ASHA requires 25 hours of clinical observation as a condition for certification. If you have not completed the required 25 hours of observation as part of your undergraduate program, you must do so during your first semester of graduate study. Information about observation opportunities will be provided at the graduate orientation.

Late First Semester of Graduate School

Graduate School Forms: Program of Study and Admission to Candidacy

Obtain forms from the Graduate School Forms Page. Meet with your advisor if you have questions about completing the forms. Sign and submit both forms to the administrative assistant who will submit them to your advisor for approval. If approved by your advisor, the forms will be submitted to the Graduate School. You will be notified by the Registrar's Office when these forms have been approved.

Near the end of each semester

Submit schedule to Clinic Director

Blank schedule forms will be placed in your clinic mailbox. Indicate the time/days your classes will meet the following semester. Your clinical practicum assignment will be made based on the schedule you have provided.

Clinic Hours Meeting with the Clinic Director

Each semester you are enrolled in practicum, you will meet with the clinic director to review the clinic hours you have earned and identify knowledge and skill areas that are needed to meet certification requirements.

Beginning of semester before internship (or before)

Apply for Internship

You must meet with the internship coordinator to finalize your internship placement.

Program Change Form

  • If notified by the administrative assistant, complete Program Change Form required by the Graduate School.
  • Meet with the Department Chair to review graduation and certification standards
  • Make plans to take the Praxis II Exam. When registering for the exam, have scores sent to ASU (code 0215) and the NC Board of Examiners (code 7757) as well as other agencies you wish to receive scores. Allow sufficient time to retake Praxis II Exam if necessary.

Beginning of internship semester

Graduate Application

Submit graduation application available from Graduate School website by designated due dates. After the form is submitted, a final audit of your program of study will be completed by the Graduate School.
